Many ancient cultures besides the Chinese, like the Maya, practiced ACUPUNCTURE; Although THIS photo is of a sculpture from an African dynasty (Nkisi power fetish, People's Republic of Congo (Zaire).Some 'so-called' experts believe it has nothing to do with Acupuncture, in fact, it, like Vudun in Haiti, is a derivative of a very ancient system of medicine (see 'Iceman discovered in European Alps...' who had acupuncture points tatooed over the correct area for stimulating the sciatic nerve). Most higher ancient cultures had 'plugged in' to this system which later became part of the mythology of the gradually deteriorating 'new' generations of the same culture. The Maya, in the Late Classic Period became intrigued with blood-letting for religious reasons but maintained the original points used by their ancestors for medical treatment.
